This was such a pleasure to read…a gift. Unwrapping little gifts and gems throughout the landscape of it. Great questions that offer a glimpse into someone else’s life, is a gift that creates the opportunity to open doors to things you didn’t know.

Really starting to see the power of the questions you’ve chosen to use in these Impervious 11 - #3 and #6 have become favorites from the series - but overall I really think it’s worth mentioning how well rounded an offering they make up. The answers, of course, are the juice but the questions are like fruit that was tenderly plucked after a natural growth on the trees. I guess I’m saying none of it feels contrived or forced and the range is dynamic. Can’t wait for future episodes - much love from a fan in Kamakura 🙌

Thanks Alex. I'm having so much fun with this series and I'm glad you're enjoying it too! It's my intention to get the next one up in early May!

Also, I just watched the "K-Foodie Meets J-Foodie" episode on Netflix where they go to Kamakura to taste Japan's most expensive cheesecake. Have you tried it? Oishii desu ka?

I thought I knew nothing of the show or the cheesecake but after some inquiry I discovered that I was invited several times to said cheesecake spot and turned it down 🤣 next time I gotta accept the invite, try, and report back.

Overall Kamakura has a absurdly high volume of oishii things so I’m sure it’s on point.

I loved reading this, especially the part about the seimei handan! Such an interesting way to name your child.

Agreed! Never in a million years would it have occurred to me to consider the construction of a letter/character at all, let alone how that letter/character engages with other letters and characters to form multi-layered meaning in different contexts and combinations! I swear the older I get the easier it is for me to understand that I know so very, very little and how excited I am to learn more about the how and the why of how things work! And also hi Natalie!

I loved being on both sides of this interview — hearing Etsuko talk about some of these questions and reading her final answers. I also thought I knew Etsuko well, but I learned so much about her. Thank you, Zakia for the questions and the place to share it. 💕

Thank you Christina! Isn't it amazing how multifaceted we all are, and how much we can learn with such simple questions? I'm really grateful for all the wonderful people in my life and that I can build new friendships and meet incredible people along the way! Can't wait to check out the exhibit next month! Excited for you, Etsuko and Kit. 🌸🌸🌸

And here I thought I knew Etsuko! I loved (if only there were a stronger word) getting to know her better and will keep these 11 questions in my back pocket.

Etuko, to know you is to love you, and to know you better, is to love you even more!

Thank you for this gift, Zakia!

I adore this series and gaining insight into individuals. Etsuko San offers sage advice with her mantra “hoho seifu okoru” and how it inspires her to move through challenge. I look forward to seeing her artwork in Hiroo.
