What a wonderful way to start the new year, Zakia. Wishing you fertile recentering and planning, I'm so looking forward to what you'll share with us. (I'll be doing something very similar!)
I’ll be looking forward to whatever you do next. Your posts are quite enjoyable, no matter what the topic. It’s a treat to see Japan through your eyes.
I’m still waffling on it. It’s probably a little presumptuous to assume that I have something to say that’s worth reading. The first piece has a title and a couple sentences. A blog is a substantial departure from writing a program with a defined and measurable goal. I’m also not that comfortable with the name. Thank you for your kind words, but don’t get your hopes up!
Thank you for including me amongst such great writers! Excited to see what you do next: your missives have been like looking through a portal into another world. I’ve loved your perspective from the outside looking in, always a delight seeing Japan through your eyes.
Thank you Kevin! Yours is one of my favorite Substacks. I've learned quite a bit about the craft of posting, tone and CTA following the good example of your newsletter. And though my children are a little older than your kiddos - and obviously I'm not a dad - I've taken away many useful and though-provoking things as a writer and parent from your work. Really great newsletter! Also I'm married to a dad so the benefits abound lol. 😁
I’ve really enjoyed your articles. Your perspective on all manner of different topics concerning Japan have been a welcome distraction over the last 6 months or so. Some of the articles have reminded me of the small and mundane things I experienced there. Look forward to your work in the future. From another kiwi reader.
Was so pleased to have found your Substack - have really enjoyed following along. I’ve loved your insights - how Japan is when coming to it from a western world view; and your stories from life in America. I’ve visited New York twice (and loved it and love how different it is from my home New Zealand/Aotearoa) and I’ve studied Japanese language/culture (and think I will visit one day) - so reading your stories touch my heart.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences with us - I hope to read more from you however it is you chose to write.
Thank you for the encouraging and kind words Momo. They made me so happy to read. Yes, if the chance presents itself you absolutely have to visit Japan. Especially because you've studied the language and culture. I think you will love it.
In this almost 3rd quarter of my life I'm suddenly stricken with big wanderlust and Aotearoa/New Zealand is definitely a place I hope to see with my own eyes. I had to google Noho ora mai. Thank you for teaching me a te reo Māori saying. And I wish the very best for you too! Hopefully I will have the opportunity to use it in Aotearoa/New Zealand one day. Until then, Ngā mihi maioha 😊
Thank you always, Zakia 🥰🤗

Happy new year :)
Thank you Sinù! I wish the same for you and look forward to what comes next on Dash of Prosecco!
Well earned break. You're a total joy and a generous soul!
Thank you very much Jade!
Can't wait to see what come back with next! 💗✨

Thank you Jim! I also just saw you launched a newsletter! Yay! I can't wait to read In My Neighborhood!

Thank you Kuheli!

Thank you Wei! I do hope to visit New Zealand one day. And here's hoping the coming 6 months ahead are better than the ones left behind last year!
I’ve loved every essay you’ve written.
Such a lovely perspective you have.
Looking forward to where it takes you next.
Thank you Christina! ❤️
Happy New Year.
Happy belated New Year June!
